Test on 2/14

2/4/11

(A; First Friday)

Lesson Unit/Topic

sin and cos have their own solution procedure we learned on Monday but the other 4 have asymptotic issues due to their denominators in the function rule(remember domain issues?)

  • In class today Revisit your 4.6 RO.

  • Work on page 522 and follow the solution procedure carefully.

  • Notice that tangent is sin/cos  which is a quotient so the denominator can never be zero. Hence, vertical asymptotes!!!! But where? Anywhere cos is zero. But in Fab Five and one walk around the cirlce, where is that? For what angles?

.Chapter 8 book report due Ash Wednesday

Test on 2/14 on rest of chapter 4

Do practice problems for 45 minutes on 4.5-4.8

from the practice sections in the back end  of chapter 4

List start time and end time and list the pages and numbers of the problems you chose to work on for 45 minutes

Girls:

The quiz is postponed till further notice. You want to concentrate today in class, and by working together how exactly the tangent function is graphed.

Use your calculators to get a "feel" for the way the graph looks like between -pi/2 and pi/2.
