Course:
Theology IV
Duration: Full year
Type: Required
Eligibility: Senior; CP
The senior
curriculum is taught with two curriculum strands. Each strand is
taught each semester, interwoven with each other and highlighted as
circumstance dictates.
The first
strand is
Prayer
and the Christian Life. In this topic, the Senior course utilizes contemporary theology and provides
practical guidelines for living the Christian life more fully and
concretely. Students investigate the importance of developing a
Christian attitude and living a Christian lifestyle. The focus is
on the vision of self, others, life, the world, and God, with special
emphasis on the Christian perspective as found in the life and teachings
of Jesus. This approach seeks to enhance a student's relationship
with God through a deeper exploration of prayer.
The second
strand is
Contemporary Moral Issues.
In this topic, the Senior course studies moral issues facing the Catholic Christian in
the contemporary world. Consequently, topics are drawn from various
fields of concern: medical ethics, criminal justice, sexual morality,
social justice, and environmental affairs. A seminar format offers
students the opportunity to articulate and analyze moral perspectives in
response to primary sources.
Typically,
Contemporary Moral Issues
will be addressed as they arise in the news, integrated into the ongoing
course of
Prayer
and the Christian Life.
